Elle Bor
Elle Bor
Author of contemporary women's fiction and confessional poetry.
Elle Bor's emotional adherence to old world, and often antiquated literary works, spurred one facet of her writing style. The other part is steered by a contemporary interpretation of this deeply-rooted language.
An esteemed writer from a small town in the Philippines, her paternal grandfather was instrumental in her passion for the craft. His influence is notable in Elle Bor's equally nostalgic and new age tone, in both poetry and prose.
Having been raised in a family that often refrains from expressing emotions, writing was her only method of healing following the death of her mother 28 years ago.
When not creating, Elle Bor takes advantage of her eclectic book collection. She loves to travel off the beaten path and embark on gastronomic adventures. She also has a severe obsession to crime series, reality shows, fashion, and dogs.
Ophelia thrives on a dangerous fixation towards Henry, as he starts a relationship with someone else. She forgets that their unusual link was driven by safety and not love. But her obsession is hardly a measure to her true madness. Rather, a cruel history follows her, carted by fleeting memories of trauma, mental chaos, and a perpetual concern for an adversary whose identity is yet to be known. Ophelia is being hunted but she hardly understands the weight of that reality.
She meets Noah, a jovial yet enigmatic character. His arrival offers an enticing future, the kind he once dreamed of with Henry. Yet riding behind him is her past life, thirsting for remembrance. It’s the same one that robbed her of her youth. Then something happens, something that forces her on the cusp of a decision. Whether Ophelia succumbs to her desire for freedom or yields to Henry’s strong resolve in keeping her under his protection, she remains tethered to a looming threat and a mind that cannot be trusted.

As a horror and thriller fan, I love how the story line gave me a lot of spine-chilling moments. Each chapter unveils a sequence that will allow you to put the pieces together and thoroughly understand each character. The author's way of narrating the events was intricate, rigid and mind-bending which allows me to visualize every scene as if I was watching a movie. As I turned each page, it immersed me deeper into Ophelia's world, a complete mix-up of human tragedy and a never-ending self-battle of freedom and individuality. It provides you a painstaking insight of the mind's perplexing realities. This Elle Bor's masterpiece is truly a work of art! I can't wait to read a prequel or a sequel soon.

Like its protagonist, My Name is Ophelia, is many things at once. The book is, at turns, poetic, surreal, enigmatic and horrific, but always deeply felt. It's a challenging read but readers who are willing to tackle the book's unconventional structure and prose will discover an emotional and gripping story of love, loss and the lasting effects of trauma.
The author succeeds in making Ophelia a multifaceted and compelling character. Ophelia's inner turmoil is vividly portrayed through a series of fractured remembrances and odd, elliptical scenes that leave the reader with more questions than answers. The mystery builds, drawing Ophelia deeper into her past while driving her toward a shocking confrontation.
My Name is Ophelia isn't for everyone. It's dense and complex. But for readers willing to engage with its mystery and poetic language, there is a lot here to enjoy.

It was an honor to read Elle Bor's master piece. So so readable, this is a throw yourself in and give yourself up to the story kind of book. A beautifully powerful read that sits in darkness, not an all-consuming menacing murk, but one with pinpricks of light that can be found and felt if you open yourself to the discovery.
Elle Bor is amazing. I cant wait to read the next chapter- please!
